110 Years! A Celebration of Our Sister Parish: St Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church

On Sunday, March 15, 2020, the parish of St Mary's Romanian Orthodox Church celebrated their 110th Anniversary. The parish in Fort Wayne was established in January 1910; it is the oldest Orthodox Church in the city. Father John gave a wonderful homily and a Panahida memorial service was officiated in memory of all deceased members of the parish. Father John has been faithfully serving this parish since 1979, and he continues to travel from Chicago to help and strengthen the faithful of this parish and ours. Father John's biography can be found here. Please keep the parish and their members in your prayers!

The Romanian families in Fort Wayne served in a number of industries, with many from the parish working in the agriculture sector. This is a picture of Romanian men after a shift in the fields.
